Using a dental dam starts similarly to using a condom, it is important to inspect the dam and its packaging to make sure it is not expired and that there are no rips. If you are making a DIY dental dam out of a rubber glove make sure it is clean and also has no rips in the parts of it that you will use. You can then place the dental dam on your (or your partner’s) body as shown below. When you are done with it, do not flush, put it in the garbage, and wash your hands so as not to transfer fluids from it onto you or other surfaces.
